“ I’d like to run for public office, but I’m not sure how to do it successfully. ”   Here’s a chance to answer that concern.  Come learn the ropes at the Vets in the Fight® Campaigning Bootcamp in the heart of golf country in November 2019.

Energized by Mike the American.  In September 2013, a gentleman who we soon began referring to as ‘Mike the American’, asked a question that animated veterans at a time when we were searching for solutions to the failing Obama Administration and America’s dangerous lurch toward the Left.  That day, we were assembled at the Heritage Foundation in DC, the first organized event of the new Citizens Commission on Benghazi, sponsored and led by Mr. Roger Aronoff, editor of Accuracy in Media, and who’s association we enjoy today, as members of a matured Citizens Commission on National Security.

In the midst of panel discussions on Benghazi, Mike the American stood and, nested within his heartfelt soliloquy of pure Americanism, posed that most penetrating question of the day.  He said, “ Hi, I’m Mike. I’m a veteran.  What can Mike do? ”  Special Operations Speaks (SOS), over time worked out an answer to Mike, articulated as Vets in the Fight® vote, serve in public office, and hold government accountable.  The intent is to bring duty, honor, country and competence to America’s public square, whether running for local school board chair, for county commissioner, for state representative, or for the United States Senate.  Regardless, you Vets in the Fight® represent an untapped an essential resource at America’s gravest moment, perhaps in its entire history.

Ben Carson and Donald Trump Visit SOS. The Vets in the Fight® (VIF) concept was validated at our Veteran Patriots Action Conference I (VPAC I) at Charleston, South Carolina, in February 2016, with the participation of over a hundred accomplished American Special Operations and Military Service Veterans.   Then-presidential candidates Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump visited VPAC I, both giving their thumbs up to the effort.  Our path ahead was clear.

We support winners.  In 2016 and 2018, SOS supported Congressional and Presidential candidates with both online exposure and with dollar donations, as appropriate.  (We donate money only to first-time veteran candidate campaigns, not to incumbents.)   We’ll do the same thing in 2020, while adding a new facet to the election of first term veterans to public office.  Most of us are not familiar with running a campaign.  State and Federal election rules, candidate filings, developing a donor base, campaign finance, reaching the people; all those topics are key to running for elected public office at any level.

So, we are providing an opportunity to learn the ropes of campaigning early in the game.  If you have any aspirations of running for public office, this is for you.
