Ebola At Home
Barack Obama just signed an executive order “authorizing” the use of U.S. Reserve and National Guard troops for the Ebola breakout in Western Africa.
The fact is: Obama has no business sending our military personnel into a virus-plagued region thousands of miles away on a humanitarian “non-combat mission”... against a virus.
Congress has zero constitutional authority to “declare war” on Ebola, thus Obama can’t exercise troops to that end – and, besides, our soldiers aren’t doctors; they’re national defenders.
Granted, I do believe we need to take action to deal with the spread of Ebola, but an effective solution certainly does not require thinning our national defense by sending our troops to another continent.
This is why I’m asking you to take action today and add your name to Special Operations Speaks’ emergency Ebola response petition.
Doctors fight Disease, not Troops! Tell Obama to keep our military OUT of West Africa and CONTAIN Ebola at Home.
It’s absolutely in America’s best interest to fully contain Ebola within our borders.
Rather than send 4,000 American troops to Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea, Special Operations Speaks is pressing the Obama Administration to direct the State Department to immediately freeze the issuance of all visas from West African nations.
This is an effective solution, unlike Obama’s call for heightened Transportation Security Administration Screenings. Seeing that TSA agents are not medical doctors, we know their efforts – well intentioned or not – will not be able to effectively prevent more of the virus’ carriers from entering the United States.
We also desperately need to secure our nation’s borders.
With our borders open and insecure, there can be no effective guard against incoming diseases, viruses, and plagues. Obama needs to take this fact very seriously… and we need to press him on it hard.
Stand with SOS today and sign our petition demanding Obama to keep troops out of West Africa and adopt effective measures to contain Ebola at home.
We’ve got to stop Ebola by preventing its entry at our airports and borders. Period.
Obama’s plan to send troops to Western Africa is not without a price tag – in case you haven’t heard, he plans on spending $750 million USD on this latest “humanitarian” initiative.
The unconstitutionality of such non-combat missions aside, there is simply no room for this kind of exorbitant spending.
Our military has been emaciated by budget cuts and substantially downsized under Obama’s watch, and now the President wants to use remaining resources – and the troops’ lives – to help treat a foreign plague. This is totally unacceptable.
And now, in a Pentagon briefing, Gen. David Rodriguez has stated that our troops being deployed to Africa will not need full hazmat suits as they will not be coming into contact with Ebola victims. However, those same troops will be wearing (only) masks and gloves. It does make one question why they would need any protective gear if they aren't going to come into contact with Ebola victims. Ebola seems pretty lethal;as in, it's an all-or-nothing type of disease.
We at SOS do not believe our men, women, and resources should be used to fund and facilitate over 17 treatment centers in countries not our own. In fact, SOS Chairman Lt. Gen. William “Jerry” Boykin (Ret.) says “sending U.S. soldiers to ‘fight’ Ebola in Liberia is an absolute misuse of the U.S. military.”
This is why I am writing to you today. We’re looking for signatures to press DC hard on our response to Ebola. We’ve got to demand Obama and his Administration to refrain from sending troops to West Africa and wisely contain the virus at home.
We can’t stress the magnitude of this enough.
Obama cannot act as “Commander in Chief” without Congressional approval via a Declaration of War. This said, since there can be no “War on Ebola” – or “war” on any disease, virus, or plague – Obama is without constitutional power to send our troops to West Africa in the name of humanitarian assistance.
Ebola is a serious threat, but Obama has yet to propose a workable, constitutional solution... this is why Special Operations Speaks has organized a grassroots petition drive demanding Barack Obama to domestically contain Ebola by freezing visas from West Africa, securing the borders, and keeping our troops home!
Unless you and other Americans act, we can bet that Obama will follow-through with his “commitment” to send thousands of U.S. reserve and National Guard troops – and spend nearly $1 billion USD – to fight Ebola in Africa.
It’s crucial you stand with us at Special Operations Speaks today and add your name to our urgent petition.
Help us spread this word with as many Americans as we can!

We’ve got to do everything in our power to stop this gross misuse of the military …
